Image of the Invisible by Thrice
Thrice is my favorite band. Ever.
It's hard to beat a group that has been so diverse throughout their career together, to go from post-hardcore punk band to an experimental rock band. This song was their first single from their 4th album Vheissu, although what they wanted to do with the 3rd album actually came about as the 4th album.
Island Records basically said,"give the same old, same old or there's no record."
So for about 2-3 years, these songs they wanted to record and play live only percolated and stewed in it's own creative juices, heated by their own hatred held toward Island Records, who basically kept their creative direction hostage. When Island loosened their grip and let Thrice make their album, Vheissu was the end product.
Image of the Invisible, the first track on the album, comes at you with more than a punch.
